Before Moses delivered the Ten Commandments to the children of Israel, he said, “Now Israel, hear the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land the Lord, the God of your ancestors is giving you” (Deuteronomy 4:1). These people were newly delivered from slavery and literally had no home, no land to call their own. They were a people in need of guidance and the Lord provided exactly what they needed in order to begin their lives anew and so that they would be able to possess the land that rightfully belonged to them. They would not be able to acquire all that the Lord had for them by living according to their old ways. Read the rest of the post here.
