I just wanted to post a brief encouragement for someone who is searching for their purpose, wondering what this life is all about, knowing that there must be more to this but not really knowing how to find it.
I spent many years feeling out-of-place, wondering why I was good at certain things but not really excited by any of it. I admired and sometimes secretly envied others who seemed to know exactly what they wanted out of this life. They seemed to have such an advantage over me, a head start. However, what I have learned is that this life is not a race for who can reach their destiny the fastest. It is not just about the destination, it is also about the journey.
For so long I wondered when I would find something to light me up the way I saw so many others light up as they engaged in their passion and purpose. The problem is, I wanted what they had, but I wasn’t doing what they did. Instead of taking the time to build my relationship with God and myself, I wasted a lot of time pursuing and trying to develop other relationships that proved to be destructive distractions. I acquired skills and training that others told me I should pursue but it didn’t mean much to me because I still hadn’t tapped into my unique purpose.
Without knowing my unique purpose, the skills and training I had seemed to only benefit my employers and my friends. I wondered when I would be able to so expertly assist MYSELF in reaching my goals. (It’s kind of hard to do that when you haven’t set any real goals for yourself.) Eventually what I found is that as I engaged with the Holy Spirit through prayer, the Lord shined a beacon of light, leading me straight to my power and purpose. It sounds magical, but it isn’t. It only makes sense that the more time you spend with the Creator, the more you understand about what He has created, especially since we were made in His image and likeness. All those skills I had that I thought were only useful to others have tremendously helped me as an entrepreneur and as someone who coaches others in their writing, publishing, and business pursuits.
Searching Him and finding Him are surefire ways of finding yourself, I promise. You won’t miss.
