Since the beginning of July, I have been praying for, believing, and decreeing stuff that seems pretty big to me but I know those things are not difficult for God. Several times during this new journey in faith, I have briefly given into fear, panic, worry, doubt, and sheer frustration because for me, time is winding down and I need what I need. However, God always finds several ways of reminding me that “He got this.” He always has. Whenever I try to “help” I only end up driving myself crazy and maybe a few of my friends who get to bear witness to my twisting and turning.
I know now that I am getting really close to receiving what the Lord has promised me and I notice some things that have been absolutely important to keep the proper focus:
1. Pray, pray, and pray some more. This includes speaking out loud the things you are believing for. I have to stay in constant two-way communication with God, making sure His voice is amplified above all others in my life.
2. Read and study His Word. Sometimes you may not even know what to read but God gives you clues. He directed me to study the book of James through a dream. He uses other prophetic voices to highlight passages for me that I need to pay attention to. Ask Him what to read, He will lead you.
3. Don’t talk to everybody about what you are believing for. This is just wisdom. You don’t need a whole lot of people speaking on your situation, especially if they are not saying what God says. People mean well, but many times their advice is only coming from a place of what seems like the right thing to do. They can get you worked into a panic with a quickness. When you do receive advice, whether it was solicited or not, submit the advice to God. See if it gets His approval. When God is speaking He will confirm His Word several ways. If there is no confirmation and no agreement inside you, keep seeking Him (praying) for His direction.
4. Do talk to the right people about your situation. It is amazing to have partners in prayer who will agree with you for God’s perfect will to be done in your life. These are people you can trust to give you the Word of God and pray according to His Word.
5. Sow seeds – money, time, services, resources. You can’t expect a harvest if you don’t have seed in the ground.
6. Don’t waver in what you are believing for. This is why it is important to feed your spirit with God’s Word and block out voices that are contrary to what He is saying. God’s Word couldn’t make it any more plain: if you waver, don’t expect to receive anything from God. Read below:
Trials and Temptations
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. James 1:5-8
7. Be thankful. Thank God for everything because He is working everything out for your good – even the trials. He won’t let any of it go to waste. What looks like a major setback is really setting you up for promotion. I’m a witness.
